How did you meet the Divas?
Long story, but I had originally used them to find a rental, then searching a condo through them. I started considering Redfin, but then I was shown the light that is the Diva charm. 🙂
What type of home did you purchase?
Standard 2 Bedroom Condo in the Plaza Del Sol!
What was your first “OMG” house moment?
I think dropping the down payment probably was the most stressful moment of my life.
What is your greatest home extravagance?
Hmmmmmm…A Roomba to clean it. I figure, “I could be lazy and have nothing be clean, or I could be lazy and buy something that cleans for me.” The latter argument won.
What is in your junk drawer?
Well my good friend gave me a book on the art of discarding, which got rid of a lot of junk. I would say a lot of art and office supplies, because they are fun, and you never know when you’d need them for spontaneous projects.
Would you rather?
- Mow lawn / Paint the fence — Mow the Lawn
- Untangle computer cords / Sort socks — Sort Socks (unless there’s a missing sock)
- Test the smoke detectors / Fix squeaky doors — Test Smoke Detectors
- Plunge the toilet / Clean out the refrigerator — Clean out the refrigerator
- Clean the gutters / Take down holiday decorations — I don’t have many holiday decorations so take down holiday decorations.
What is your favorite Hood hangout spot?
Too many to say just one. Captain Blacks for Summer, catching the sermon at Witness on Saturdays, Pine Box, and of course Pie Bar (Ken designed Pie Bar’s website) for dessert. Pub Crawl anyone?
What is your favorite local organization/non-profit?
I tutor during during the school year for the Youth Tutoring Program which works with the Seattle Housing Authority in the Yesler Terrace Community. I work with two students once a week. One of my students is graduating this year, so I am excited to get her into some colleges.
What do you love the most about your house?
The balcony with a view of the Space Needle and the mountains behind it. It’s so beautiful to eat dinner and look out at it.
Thanks Ken for being a super star Diva Dweller. We adore you. We love the the building you bought your first home. And everything you do to make Divaland special. See you at the next Divaland soiree!
