Seattle: Bursting with Culture, Surrounded by Nature

Obviously, we Divas have always known that Seattle is an über hip city to live, but now Seattle is gaining more attention on the national stage. Just last month, Forbes released their list of the Coolest Cities in America named the Emerald City as the fifth coolest city in the nation for 2012, just behind cities such as Los Angeles and Washington D.C. Our little oasis was even ranked above cities such as New York City and San Francisco, generally thought of as some of the trendiest places in the nation.

Clearly, we think that Seattle should be #1 on the list, but how did Forbes come to this conclusion, you ask? Well using some complicated, new-fangled algorithm, they created a list of seven points of interest, each weighted according to importance. These points included such things as Arts & Culture, Diversity, Recreation, Local Restaurants, and Net Migration in 2011. One of the factors that we thought was the most fascinating is that Forbes took median ages of the cities into account, favoring cities with larger young to mid-adult populations. Although we didn’t score highest in this category, we did score higher than Houston (the #1 city) in both the Recreation and the Arts & Culture categories – two things that we Divas find make cities way more interesting and enjoyable.

We absolutely love Seattle, so we are ecstatic to see other people finding the same love for it. Wanna know what else makes Seattle one of the best cities to live in? Check out why the Divas think Seattle is awesome!
