Most Algorithm Generated Home Valuations Stink
Right now as I’m writing this Zillow thinks our house is worth $870,000 and Redfin thinks it’s worth $850,000. Meanwhile, the home across the street from ours sold for over $1,000,000 million. Another home that is closer to Lake Washington sold for around $900,000. The thing that the algorithms do not understand is that our home is sandwiched between Rainier Avenue and Lake Washington. Three blocks to the west of us homes typically sell for about $200,000 less than our home. And homes two blocks over on the east side next to the Lake sell for well over $1.5M.
