Team Diva spends the holidays in Seattle at fabulous drag shows, light exhibits, holiday markets, hanging out with Santa, and more!

How does Team Diva spend the holidays in Seattle? There is so much to do and see in Seattle during the holidays. Of course, Divas love a good holiday party, but you will also find us at holiday-themed drag shows like “Jingle All The Gay” and “Scott Shoemaker’s War on Christmas. We love holiday night markets (like the Solstice Night Market), checking out festive light displays (like WildLanterns at the Woodland Park Zoo), and seasonal performances (the “Nutcracker” by the Pacific Northwest Ballet is a must-see!).

Experience the Holidays in Seattle Like a Diva

The holidays in Seattle are truly a glorious time! We have so much to choose from here, and here are some of our favorite things to do this time of year.

Experience the Holidays Like The Divas, Kim Colaprete & Chavi Hohm!

Kim: “My favorite holiday shows are BenDeLaCreme and Jinkx Monsoon holiday shows and Scott Shoemaker’s War on Christmas. I also love grabbing hot cocoa to go and taking the teen and his friends for a drive around town to see the holiday lights, especially in Olympic Manor. They really go all out! Next, I love holiday shopping downtown with friends and then ending with some cocktails at Oliver’s in the Mayflower Hotel. It’s such a festive place to be in the winter time.”

This year we will also be enjoying seeing The Wiz at The 5th Avenue Theatre. Super excited about that. And I love going for High Tea at The George in the Fairmont Hotel!”

Chavi: “I love spending time with people during the holidays. Jane and Steve’s annual holiday party is back and I’m so excited to attend. I also love seeing shows with friends. This year we are seeing Scott Shoemaker’s War on Christmas and Jingle All the Gay. Also we are super excited to go with John and Dimpy to the Winter Solstice Night Market. During Christmas and New Years we spend time at our Lake House in Long Beach. It is so nice to cook, visit with friends and family, and meet local artists. This year is extra special because the kiddo is turning 16 right after Christmas.”

“I love going to the u-pick and cutting down my own tree, and I also enjoy putting up my Christmas lights and decorations. A few of my other favorite holiday experiences include checking out holiday lights all over Seattle neighborhoods, holiday parties galore, and drinks in front of the fireplace at the Sorrento! I also love checking out the BenDeLaCreme and Jinkx Monsoon holiday shows and many others.”

King Street Makers Market in Georgetown is a great place to shop local in December. We like to grab hot cocoa from Burien Press and drive around Normandy Park looking at lights. We also like to go to the Highland Park Corner Store and then walk around Highland Park looking at lights.”

“Christmas lights are a big favorite! We enjoy lots of hot apple cider and family nights around the wood burning fireplace, and of course traditional family meals from scratch courtesy of Auntie Sandra. A couple of our other traditions include having photos taken with Black Santa and seeing the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Nutcracker performance—this one’s a MUST!”

“My husband and I love going to zoo lights during the holiday season—we get to see some animals, drink mulled wine, and check out the amazing light displays! We also try to catch a show at the 5th Ave Theatre around our anniversary which is December 23rd! It’s the best way to get in the holiday spirit!”

Experience the Holidays Like Donna Burns

“Traditions are my favorite thing about the holidays! We do 3 Gifts of Giving for the community. It’s corny to say it, but it’s honestly my favorite part of the holidays. Every year we support 3 community service opportunities that are offered at the holidays. Even as adults my kids resist and complain, but they always do it and they are always infinitely more grateful for their own lives at this time of year! Every year we participate in the 10,000 cookies for the unsheltered, and this year we are also supporting the warming shelter at the WS Vet Center. Quentin is collecting items for neighbors at Camp Second Chance, and my daughter is participating in a book drive for prisoners at Shelton. Unless he comes up with his own 3rd gift I’ll be dragging my son to volunteer at the West Seattle Food Bank for the month of December, which I also do every year at the holidays.”

“And as a result of my split personality, my other super favorite part of the season is SHOPPING, gifts, wrapping and DECORATING, and PARTIES. I like annual events in general, California family visits, and specifically the days after Christmas, December 26-30. And the weekend before Thanksgiving every year, I kick off the season with a girl’s dinner at the Corson Building! Ready, set, go—it’s all happening!”

“All the shows for sure! I’m looking forward to seeing Dina Martina, Jingle All The Gay, and Scott Shoemaker’s War on Christmas.”

“Same as John! DRAG DRAG DRAG! I can’t wait to see Dina Martina, Jingle All The Gay, and Scott Shoemaker’s War on Christmas.”
