Meet Ms. and Mr. Kim + Mark. They are fabulous Diva Dwellers, friends, socially sassy pants pals, smarties and everything else that is awesome about living in Seattle type of folks. There is nothing we enjoy more than chatting politics, Hackathon, HIV/AIDS research, celebrity gossip ,and more while eating an awesome meal at each other’s houses. Kim and Mark have introduced us Divas to so many amazing folks in their inner circle it is crazy. And to top it off Kim’ Mom Ruth Ann is an AVID Diva fan. No one opens more newsletters, comments on more Facebook posts and genraly loves us gals as much as Ruth Ann. xoxo
Here is Kim and Mark’s Diva Dweller Story….
Hood: Ballard
How did you meet the Divas? Kim met the Divas through her friend Bria who had used them for her house buying needs and highly recommended them. Mark got to meet them through Kim. Love ensued.
What type of home did you purchase? An adorable, two bedroom, green built townhouse a few blocks from downtown Ballard.
What was your first “OMG” house moment? Within the first week of moving in, the fridge stopped cooling and the hot water heater stopped heating. Those moments made it quickly apparent that there was no longer a landlord to call when things broke. Thankfully both were easy fixes that took only a little Googling to work out!
What is your greatest home extravagance? We recently purchased a custom couch from a local maker (Couch on Ballard Ave). It is the perfect seating arrangement for our house and has made a world of difference in our ability to seat all of our guests. Plus it is damn good-looking to boot!
What is in your junk drawer? Scissors, rubber bands, string, notepads from the Salmon Bay Cafe, appliance instructions and warranty cards, Sharpies, packing tape, emergency greeting cards (in case of surprise birthdays!)
Would you rather:
- mow lawn / paint the fence
- untangle computer cords / sort socks
- test the smoke detectors / fix squeaky doors
- plunge the toilet / clean out the refrigerator
- clean the gutters / take down holiday decorations
What is your favorite Hood hangout spot? Oh man, we are gonna have to nominate more than one!
a) Copper Gate, soon to be under new management… always a good time!
b) Volterra, delicioso fancy Italian for when you want to celebrate, but don’t want to go all the way to Canlis
c) Ray’s Boathouse, nowhere better to see the sunset.
d) Salmon Bay Cafe, the fishermen eat their breakfast there and so should you.
What is your favorite local organization/non-profit? We are totally going to have to say two: Shunpike and Lifelong AIDS Alliance. Both make significant contributions to our wonderful city in very different ways.
What do you love the most about your house? Our townhouse is one of four in our townhouse set and so each is an end unit. This means that we have windows on three sides, lots of light, and amazing cross breezes coming from the sound. As all Seattleites know, it is really all about maximizing the light and fresh air!
Thanks pals for being awesome Diva Dwellers! You guys are rockstars!!!
