This is her story!
Amanda just moved to Seattle to join her family in our fair Emerald City. She really wanted to find a way to optimize her real estate opportunities. One of the best ways for her to do this was to buy a home that had a separate studio that she could rent out.
How We Met Amanda
Amanda was referred to us by two of our fave Diva Dwellers, Kitsy and Janko. Amanda is Kitsy’s sister, who was moving to Seattle from Minnesota. It was super important that we found a house that was close to Amanda’s family so she can be a big part of their community.
Wants & Needs in Amanda’s Big Seattle House Hacking Search
Amanda liked a lot of areas. She was mostly focused on more urban locations and initially favored the Central District, since this is where Kitsy and Janko live. But she was happy to end up in Beacon Hill!
Pretty quickly Amanda decided she wanted to have a rental space for additional income, so we primarily looked at duplexes. She also wanted someplace super cool with tons of character, space for her kids to visit, a garden, and a peaceful vibe in a fairly quiet neighborhood suited for her recording needs. Amanda is a voice actor and needed space for a recording studio in her home.
The Home Search Process & Exploring Possibility Of Joining The Seattle House Hacking Community
We officially started our search in mid-April and found and closed on the home on May 23rd. So once we were in the thick of it, things went pretty fast.
We showed Amanda one duplex in particular that she really liked and made an offer. That situation got weird fast, and after weeks of no offers, another offer came at the same time as ours. They got the house. Although we were all annoyed, at the end of the day we always say Bless and Release! That wasn’t the right house for Amanda. And sure enough, within a week later we found this amazing home in Beacon Hill that really hit all the marks!
Sweet Success – Amanda Finds Her Investment Opportunity
We went to take a second look at 2 potential homes. In the end, this home was the one she was in love with. She loved the look, the expansive yard (for gardening and for her pup Lincoln to run wild in), the adorable detached rental studio, and the location.
Miraculously, she brought the only offer on this house!
