Let’s dive into the work that Kim and Donna did to help these buy up buyers buy their new home in Renton.
Setting the Scene
Seth and Kristin contacted us back in early Spring 2024. A few years prior, they were the lucky winners of a multiple offer situation on a house in West Seattle that we had listed. Seth and Kristin shared with us that they were so impressed with our marketing on the home they bought. Now that it was time for them to sell their West Seattle home and find a bigger place, they knew they had to have Team Diva list it for them!
When we met in person, they also decided to have us represent them in their new home purchase.
Preparing For The Home Search
Seth and Kristin knew they wanted a bigger home and more land. They were getting ready for baby #2, and after living in a 2-bedroom home, they needed more breathing room. Based on their needs, price point, and where family lived, they decided to search for a home in South King County. We focused on Kent, Renton, Federal Way, and Des Moines.
Here were a few of their other wants and needs for buying a home in Renton:
- Large private yard
- 4 bedrooms
- Seth works from home and they wanted the kids to have their own rooms if possible
- Seth’s parents also love to visit and do not live in the area, so they wanted space for them to be able to come and stay for a while if necessary
- Seth and Kristin are both musicians and wanted a quiet room to practice in
The Offer Process To Buy A Home In Renton
It was a VERY hot market in South King County. We made 2 offers and then won the 3rd one! There were some odd situations along the way—for example, one of the homes in Kent we offered on had been on the market for over a week and things were pretty quiet. We decided to offer on the home, then the home suddenly received 2 offers along with ours. The other offers were higher, so we didn’t get that one.
Who knew things could change so quickly!
Finding “The One”
One day, we found a home in Renton that had been on the market for about a month. Interestingly, it had almost the exact layout of the first house that Seth and Kristin had offered on. It was the *perfect* location in Renton and was bigger than the other homes they had offered on! I think the layout and the yard completely won them over. The yard is huge, level, private, and surrounded by trees. And there is a cute pond in the middle and a nice deck off the dining room.
They absolutely loved ALL of this. And it had been on for a while with no offers. So we just swooped in! We came in a bit low but the sellers were ready to move on, so they accepted our offer. It was a win-win for everyone.
The Big Win of Buying a Home in Renton
For Seth and Kristin, the big win was getting a home that pretty much hit all their wants and needs in a neighborhood they love.
For us, the major win was seeing how happy they were when we finally closed on their new home. We also loved knowing that they would be able to sell their old home (which we did!) and sell their old home before the new baby was born.
