This Mount Baker home listing is the latest and greatest Diva Dwelling transformation! I’m excited to show you everything we did to get this home in Seattle’s Mount Baker neighborhood ready for listing day. It has taken us over 2 months of work to get here!
Before we dive into the projects we did to get this home to its current “Diva-riffic” stage, I want to give you a little backstory. Donna and I first met with these sellers back in January. They are a lovely queer couple who were referred to us by one of our wonderful Diva Dwellers. They had an incredible opportunity to move to Amsterdam and work remotely, so they jumped and said yes. And here we are!
In this post, I want to do a little show-and-tell about the five major projects that needed to be tackled before we got to “Diva Market Ready Status.”

How We Transformed This Mount Baker Home
Let’s dive into the details of this home’s major refresh below!
Emptying the ENTIRE Home
On day one, there were a ton of items that the sellers had left in the home, which we had totally agreed to help them remove. I mean, they moved to Amsterdam—we knew they were not taking their TV, couch, a bunch of video games, and the piano! So it all needed to go. Luckily, they found someone to take the piano, and we knew a vendor who was able to help remove pretty much everything else from the house. Once it was empty, it was time for the fun part of this transformation to begin.
Giving the Interior Paint New Life
Painting the interior of this home was a must. While white walls are great for making a home look fresh and bright, too much white can be a bit boring. Both Donna and I love bringing character and color into a home whenever possible.
I’ve been a bit obsessed with Benjamin Moore’s color of the year, Cinnamon Slate. I had a gut feeling this living room would look incredible with that color on the walls. So we went for it. And I’m completely loving the vibe!
We also painted the fireplace in the living room, and we painted the cabinetry in the kitchen. This home’s exterior paint AND front door got a total makeover, too—look at how that color pops. Learn more about how I transformed this Mount Baker home with paint in this Instagram Reel.
Simple Kitchen Remodel
When our sellers bought this house, they pretty much moved right in and lived. But now, the previous seller’s updates were looking pretty dated. Let me preface this by saying that I never suggest a seller throw down big bucks to remodel a kitchen for a sale. You never know what a new buyer will like or not like. And in general, I love a funky vintage kitchen—as long as it is in tip-top shape and looks cool.
What this kitchen really needed wasn’t a full renovation—it just needed a “glow up.” Our sellers were down with the plan. So I picked this dreamy blue color for the cabinets, the countertops were upgraded to this simple butcher block, and then a new sink and dishwasher were also installed. Now this kitchen is ready for prime time. The new buyers can move in and enjoy this space until they are ready to turn it into their own dream kitchen.
Updating and Upgrading the Lighting
Y’all, don’t get me started about lighting! Lighting is one of THE most important elements in any home. Installing new lights can take a space from dated and drab to modern and chic. We went through this home with our sellers and discussed every light fixture and made a plan for upgrading almost all of them. Practically every light in this home is brand spanking new.
Now, if the thought of having to pick out new light fixtures for your entire home gives you agita (as Nonna Colaprete used to say), don’t worry. I got you. This Diva finds deep joy in scouring the internet for light fixtures!
Punching Up the Curb Appeal of this Mount Baker Home
You can make the interior of a home look as amazing as possible, but if the outside is not fine and fluffed, that could be a deal killer for some buyers. This home was beyond ready for a paint job and a fresh color. The decks needed work. The exterior lights, of course, needed updating. The yard was in need of a trimming. We worked with the sellers to help them get it ALL done. We even put a little love into the garage bungalow so it’s steps closer to being ready for someone to use as an art studio, office, or work out space.
Thanks For Learning How We Transformed This Mount Baker Home
Two months later, and here we are—this Diva Dwelling is picture-perfect. We had stellar staging put in by the folks at Von Rocko Home and stunning flower pots provided by Rowan’s Roots. This home is Met Gala-Ready!
Donna and I absolutely love seeing these home transformations and our sellers especially love having their home sell for top dollar once the buyers roll in the door. Honestly, if I can spend any part of this crazy job helping you refresh your home, I am in heaven!
