Five Fabulous Things to Love About This Seward Park Cottage

They say a great buy makes a great sell. And when our clients bought this Seward Park Cottage back in 2013, they certainly made a great buy. They bought a home they loved! And they bought within their means so they could afford to maintain the home. Our smart and savvy Diva Dwellers also bought a home with great bones and wonderful character. This offered them the opportunity to improve and upgrade the home over time to truly make it their home.

Now, this great “buy” is a great “sell”! Here are the top five reasons that this home is now a great sell!

Our Sellers Did the Work So You Don’t Have To

Seward Park Cottage Home Front Yard and Deck

Our sellers took homeownership to heart and spent the time, energy, and money necessary to upgrade and improve this sweet Seward Park Cottage. They replaced the heating system, upgraded the electrical panel and rewired the entire house, rebuilt the back deck with high-end Ipe wood, rebuilt the chimney, added beautiful Anderson Doors, and over the years have replaced all the appliances in the home.

This list goes on and on. Basically, our sellers tackled all of these fun and not-so-fun home projects so you, the new owners, will not have to worry. You can move on into the upgraded, freshly painted, and beautifully landscaped home with no fuss and no muss.

Open Living Room/Dining Area

I rave all the time about open living spaces. It’s just my thing, and I’m sure I am not alone. When our clients bought this home, this was one of the features that really resonated with them. Not only does this give the home a great beachy feel in the summer but having a working wood-burning fireplace gives the home a great cozy warm vibe in the winter. The openness of the space makes this home a great layout for entertaining as well.

Light and Bright with Views of the Lake

Being nestled just up and off of the street means that you will never feel closed in. It also means that you won’t have any of that lovely eastern light blocked out by another home. And then—there is one upgrade I didn’t mention yet!—our sellers replaced the front corner picture windows. So now there is a crisp, clear view of Lake Washington! Admire these dreamy views while you sip your morning cup of coffee or gather for a lovely dinner.

And remember those new Anderson door sliders? Not only do they let in tons of light, but they also open out onto the stunning Ipe wood deck in the back and to the artisan-built deck off of the living room. This now brings us to the third big reason why this home makes a great sell… the outdoors!

Three Ways to Enjoy the Outdoors

Seward Park Cottage Home Back Yard and Deck

If there is one thing we have all learned during the past few years of COVID, it’s that having access to outdoor space is a must for most of us. And having a variety of outdoor spaces to use and enjoy is an extra bonus!

The quaint front deck is the perfect location for sitting down to relax with your morning coffee while watching the sunrise over Lake Washington. It’s also a great spot for a small potted herb garden. As you’re making dinner, just pop out onto the front deck to pick some fresh basil or rosemary!

Then there is the stunning Ipe deck in the back. Here you have a truly fantastic setting for an al fresco dinner party. Or maybe just grab a glass of rosé and settle in for happy hour after a long work day. It’s also a wonderful spot to catch some rays later in the day. Sitting out here is completely peaceful and calm.

Last but not least is the grassy shaded backyard. Here you can escape the heat of the day, stretch out on the grass with a good book, or play ball with your favorite furry friend. This home offers so many different ways to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors. And if you still even need more space, well, you are only minutes away from Seward Park!

Seward Park Neighborhood

This home is situated in the northern part of the Seward Park neighborhood. As the neighborhood’s name suggests, this particular location means that you have easy access to Seward Park. This 300-acre peninsula park sits on Lake Washington and is home to an old-growth forest, nesting eagles, and scenic hiking trails. Being in this locale also means you’re blocks from the small urban village where you will find a recently opened Chuck’s Hop Shop, Bent Burgers, and a Caffe Vita. You’ll also find a neighborhood staple here, Pizzuto’s Italian Restaurant, a place you may often find the Divas on a cool winter’s eve.

Beyond these easy-to-access spots, if you are willing to hike a little further, you can get to Both Ways Cafe for a great breakfast or take your doggy for a spin at the Genessee Dog Park. And there are so many ways to get down to Lake Washington for a walk along the water. This is just a great location overall for enjoying the outdoors!
