This 1930s home in Seattle’s Windermere neighborhood has so much to love about it—it’s fun, unique, and full of personality! Cozy spaces and thoughtful touches make up each welcoming part of the home, and I especially love the bold kitchen and all of the natural light. The roof deck is another one of my favorite things about this Windermere home; it’s huge with plenty of room for entertaining a crowd. Below the deck is the massive garage, a total dream if you need a spot for parking, storage, and projects. And of course, the location is enviable—being in Seattle’s Windermere neighborhood means you are close to Lake Washington and plenty of nearby conveniences.

My Five Favorite Features of This Home in Seattle’s Windermere Neighborhood

There is a lot to love about this fun and unique 1930s home in Seattle’s Windermere neighborhood. Here are just five of my favorite features that I’m sure you will love as well!

This amazing home in Windermere is absolutely stunning with a ton of potential. Go ahead and build your dream ADU in the oversized garage, throw huge BBQ party on the party deck, enjoy the already dog friendly yard, and so much more. Let’s dive into why five favorite things we love about this home below.

The Ridiculous Amount of Natural Light

This home is chock full of windows. The amount of natural light that pours into the upstairs living area is fantastic. All those windows also mean that on gray Seattle days, this home is bright without having to turn on any lights. Since there are two skylights in the home—one in the entry and one in the dining room—you still have light coming in from above, in spite of being surrounded by trees. It’s almost impossible not to feel cheery when you are chilling in this home, no matter the time of year.

The Outrageously Large Roof Deck

Seriously—I’m not joking about the size of this deck! I’ve seen condo building roof decks smaller than this one. There is a ton of space on this deck for grilling, dining, lounging, and playing games. And with an equal amount of sunny space as well as shady space, there is plenty of room for a planter garden. Next Spring you can plant a bevy of tomatoes or start a not-so-small herb garden. If you’re not into planting, use the sunny space to sunbathe and use the shady spots for summer al fresco dinner parties. There are so many ways to enjoy this massive deck.

The Bold Efficient Kitchen

I adore this kitchen. It’s not huge, but it is super efficient and open. The brightly painted cabinets and butcher block countertops give this space a playful yet stylish vibe. I just love the look of a stainless steel apron front sink. This is one of the few “galley” kitchens I’ve been in that feel way wider in person than it does in photos. I mean, this is hands down a three-butt kitchen! The layout also means you are never in a vacuum alone in the kitchen cooking while your guests are having fun chatter time. You can easily chat with folks while cooking, whether they are in the dining room or the living room. It’s definitely a kitchen that is fun AND easy to work in.

The Garage Built for More Than Just Cars

Can we talk about this garage? I mean, the main reason the deck is so massive is because it is above this very grand garage. There is room to park two fairly large vehicles here, and then some. These folks had a climbing wall, a gym, and a workshop set up in this garage. And they still had tons of storage space! Not only is it extra large, but the high ceilings mean there is room to add another level of storage, which opens up more room for cars, motorcycles, bicycles, or your Pilates studio. You definitely do not see garages like this often in the city. Just think, now you have room to buy that super cute VW Buzz electric van we’ve all been drooling over.

The Location of This Home in Seattle’s Windermere Neighborhood; ‘Nuff Said!

Being in the Windermere neighborhood means you are close to some pretty cool spots. Two of my favorite spaces that are just minutes away are Magnuson Park, and University Village. U-Village is brimming with great spots to shop, like Room and Board, an Apple Store, Vans, cb2, Anthropologie, etc., and fab spots to dine such as Ba Bar, Din Tai Fung, Frankie & Jo’s, and Hey Bagel, just to name a few. Plus, there is a QFC for all your grocery needs. For outdoor fun time, head over to Magnuson Park. There you will find a lakefront open doggie park, play fields, trails, and a community space that hosts events year round. Oh and I have to mention that here you also have super easy access to the Burke Gilman Trail.
