Have you heard of Licton Springs? Well, neither had I, but let me tell you, this is the neighborhood you should know about.
Accessibility: Snuggled between the two most traversed thoroughfares in Western Washington, I-5 and Hwy 99, Licton Springs offers incredible accessibility to both downtown and the northern suburbs. If you get around in a car, you’ve got multiple options to get around that fabled Seattle traffic, and Seattle Department of Transportation is wrapping up a major improvement project on Northgate Way to ease congestion. If you’re a busser, you’ve got a plethora of routes nearby to get you on your way. And if you’re a biker, you got bike lanes galore.
Recreation: OMG, parks you guys. If you’re a runner, you’ve got running routes coming out of your ears. Licton Springs gets its name from the springs and wetlands that it’s built upon. So it’s got green and outdoors in its DNA. You’ve got Licton Springs Park. Mineral Springs Park and Disc Golf course is just down the road. And if you really want to pump up your long runs, you’ve got Carkeek and Greenlake just a few miles away. Outdoors not your jam? There’s a Gold’s Gym and CorePower Yoga down the road.
Food/Entertainment: The good ol’ Oak Tree 6 Cinemas and half a dozen hidden gems are your perfect date night, right in this neighborhood. Share your shake at Burgermaster, or spice it up at Tropicos Breeze for some Salvadoran yummies and Cyndy’s House of Pancakes for a dose of flapjacks and hashbrowns with a side of divey local color.
Get What Ya Need: So, obvs, Northgate Mall is practically in spitting distance. Every big box store you can possibly imagine is just on the other side of I-5. And just about every small shop you can imagine—beer shops, dog training, ski gear — line Aurora Ave.
Aside from these perks, though, let’s be honest. This neighborhood is affordable. First time homebuyers, this is a neighborhood to keep your eye on. Like Hillman City in South Seattle, this is an investment—you live here because you know that it’s dripping with potential.
