Our official Team Diva’s 2025 Seattle Election Guide is ready for our dear friends and neighbors. Why do we put out this guide every year? We do a Seattle Election Guide every year because there are ZERO progressive real estate professional voices in this eco-system. Frankly, the real estate industrial complex is much more interested in corporate landlords than they are in housing, subsidized housing, homeownership, etc…
Big Real Estate Money Is TRYING To Influence This Election
I will be real honest with you. Big real estate money elected the current batch of City Council, Mayors, and City Attorneys. I have one question for you. Is Seattle more affordable and do we have more resources for the massive drug issues in this city? No? Shocking!
Is Seattle more affordable and do we have more resources for the massive drug issues in this city?
The reason why we have not made a dent into housing affordability or dealing with safety is because the current crop of candidates are beholden to the Real Estate Industrial Complex. This complex is fine with open store fronts, they are ok with wealth inequity in our city, and they sure as hell do not care about all of the small businesses going out of business this last year.
BTW – Who is the real estate industrial complex?
Team Diva’s 2025 Seattle Election Guide
Team Diva’s primary goal has always been about increasing housing options to everyone in and around the Puget Sound region. The group of endorsements below is a showcase of candidates who hold this same vision.
Mayor – Katie Wilson For Seattle
Our current Mayor Spent Millions on Hotel Rooms to Shelter Unhoused People. Then It Stopped Filling Them.
People went unhoused and unable to access services because the current Mayor cares more about various egos than it does for getting the job done.
The rents in Seattle have gone up every single year that Mayor Bruce Harrell has been in office. Why? The current Mayor is supported by large donors including the Washington Realtors and other real estate business entities. These donors care more about profits than they do about actually solving Seattle’s housing crisis.
Meanwhile at the beginning of 2025 Mayor Bruce Harrell’s office admitted that they expected 30% of small businesses to go out of business through a combination of rising rents, cost of labor, and the fact that fewer of us have spending cash like we used to. Over 16% of Seattle’s restaurants closed in Seattle so far this year.
The current Mayor is not good for housing nor is he good for small businesses. The only thing he is good at is supporting rich Real Estate Corporate donors and having the police department harass the LGBTQ+ community at Denny Blaine.
Moving Forward – VOTE FOR KATIE WILSON
Katie Wilson is in stark contrast to the current Mayor. She is admittedly a bit awkward and a policy nerd. Ms. Wilson DOES HAVE AN ACTUAL HOUSING PLAN!!!
Here is why we are voting for Katie Wilson for Mayor:
- Revitalize Downtown: Katie Wilson’s Economic Development plan is focused on creating vibrant communities. Specifically the policy nerd in Katie Wilson understands the barriers we have currently and has a plan to minimize the bureaucracy for small businesses.
- 4,000 New Emergency Housing Units: Katie Wilson is focused on opening 4,000 new emergency housing units.
- Tiny House Villages: Katie Wilson’s strategies include opening up more Tiny‑House Villages which are very popular with the unhoused. One of the ideas that I like is that Katie wants to work with a multitude of organizations to help build these communities.
- Rent Vouchers: She wants to implement a municipal rent voucher system to subsidize rents. This would specifically support households who don’t require intensive support services., Katie Wilson wants to work
- Create Housing With Behavioral Health Services: No joke. It is rough trying to get housing and services in Seattle’s current environment.
- Reduce Red Tape: One of the big barriers to creating more affordable housing and retail spaces is the red tape involved. Seattle needs to be a leader in this area.
City Attorney – Erika Evans
Seattle loves to make losing choices and I hope for once that they will choose someone who isn’t aligned with the current government in Washington D.C. Ann Davidson voted for Trump and has been using Trump policies of “Tough On Crime” in a losing fashion in our city!
According to ProPublica – Data from Davison’s most recent quarterly report indicates that the rate of declines (to prosecute) under Davison has been similar, and at times higher, than under Holmes, hovering between 40 and 50 percent. In the first quarter of 2025, Davison’s decline rate was 48 percent—two percent higher than what Lindsay called the “worst” years under Holmes.
Erika Evans has MORE experience than the current City Attorney. She has already worked in the office and has worked at a Federal level. Erika Evans has the skills and experience to be an effective prosecutor in our current environment with the federal government.
Here is the reason we are voting for Erika Evans in Erika’s Words:
The city attorney absolutely does not need to be afraid to challenge President Trump and stand up to him. We need to make sure that Seattle is safe for all people. I think a big role the city attorney’s office can play right now is bringing affirmative litigation when it affects the city of Seattle as well as partnering with the attorney general on some of these issues.
A big failure we’re seeing is [Davison] hiding and not doing anything and not saying anything when people are really afraid right now. I was speaking with a professional who said they recently started bringing multiple pieces of ID around with them in Seattle because they were scared of being identified as potentially an immigrant.
Ann has isolated herself. She quit the Democratic Party to become a Republican to vote for Trump and his administration the first time around. Ann Davidson is not in the community and is not responsive to what’s going on here in Seattle. Check out the following – Excerpt from PubliCola >
District 2 – Eddie Lin
Yes – Eddie Lin is not as full on social housing as we would like him to be. But he thankfully was not endorsed by the Realtors. This means Eddie Lin is not in the pockets of Big Real Estate Money.
Here is the reason we are voting for Eddie Lin:
The reason why we are voting for Eddie is one we do know he cares about our district. He was endorsed by all of the other candidates who were running at the same time for this seat but did not make it to the top two spots. Eddie Lin also has a clear understanding of housing issues in our city.
District 8 – Alexis Mercedes Rinck
Alexis Mercedes Rinck’s ideas are so good that the current Mayor is copying them to appear more “progressive.” Divas like other Divas!!!
District 9 – Dionne Foster
Team Diva is in love with Dionne Foster. She is running with an energy and a vision for our city that we have been yearning for. Dionne Foster has a clear understanding of why we have an upside down tax system in this state. Basically, folks on the lower income brackets pay more of their incomes in taxes through our current system than those at the higher end. It is an issue that we have been working on for years in this state.
Meanwhile…
Homelessness is a policy issue. People like Sara Nelson continue to promote homelessness by not supporting fair tax revenue to solve the issue. Also Sara Nelson is backed by Big Real Estate Money.
Where has Big Real Estate Money gotten us?
Do the right thing Seattle. Vote for Dionne Foster.
King County Executive – Girmay Zahilay
You know who has been going after Our Guy Girmay? Big Real Estate Money! They would much rather have someone in their pockets than have Girmay Zahilay as the leader.
Here is the deal. Girmay Zahilay has been our personal King County Council Person and he has worked towards a forwarding approach to housing, mental health, and supporting small businesses. He is extremely smart and well connected.
Personally, we have been impressed with how much we see him in the community. He knows the local ice cream shop owner in Rainier Beach (among many others) and what they need in their small business.
Meanwhile do we really think Big Real Estate Money candidates actually care about the ice cream shop owner? No!
King County Prop 1 – Emergency Medical Services – Approve
This is an easy one!
City of Seattle Prop 1 – Families, Education, PReschool and Promise Levy – Approve
This is an easy one!
City of Seattle Prop 2 – Changes To The B&O Tax
This one we are still undecided on. The city and the State need new revenue. But B&O tax taxes a businesses gross income and not the net. Hence it is a regressive tax. It impacts smaller businesses the most. We are currently reading the GSBA perspective and will get back to you.
Statewide Measure – Resolution 8201 – Approve
Our initial gut reaction was to say hell no don’t put public money into the stock market. But then we looked at the endorsements. The quote below by the president of the Nurses Association really stood out to us.
Justin Gill, President of the Washington State Nurses Association: “Nurses support 8201 because when our patients are disabled, suffering from dementia, or just aging, they need a reliable, guaranteed fund for their long-term care needs.”
